1. Dust off your cloth doll at regular intervals. Mind not to wash it, just tidy it with a soft hand with help of some clean duster. Crease the dress gently and remove superfluous additions like ribbons, jewellery, pins etc,
2. Check for any abnormal damages or wear/tear that may expand further.
3. Protect dolls from pests and moths. It’s wise to keep a cloth doll in quarantine to prevent infection.
4. Over handling or extensive cleaning should be avoided. It’s advisable to consult a professional cloth doll conservator, when a doubt crop up.
5. Isolate a neat place free from insects, dirt etc. before cleaning cloth dolls. Don’t keep eatables, beverages, flammable substances, paint, ink, glue, sharp objects etc. close to doll.
6. Wash your hands before cleaning or repairing an antique cloth doll, if possible wear plastic gloves.
7. Avoid rush and carry doll with both hands. As a rare cloth doll is extremely fragile to be mishandled.
