The reasons for this persistent fascination for dollhouses stemmed from the fact that dollhouse making lays you on an elating joyride, bestowed with zeal to furnish a virgin one-of-its-kind model. Fast overtaking the other hobbies, Dollhouse and miniature-making is groping its way to the hearts of many.
Universal adult absorption with miniatures demonstrated a steep rise over the centuries. Scores of miniature enthusiasts exhibit both antique and reproduction models in their houses. Some collect it to relish the nostalgia of the bygone era, while others enjoy conceptualizing an entirely modern setting to garnish their living rooms. To some collectors dollhouse is just an extra addition to their vast collection, while others spend bereft ages merely accompanied with lifeless woods and card walls.
It was during the last quarter of the 19th century when this miniature toy became the patronage of riches unaffecting general masses. Gradually with rise in the standard of living, people begin to squander little money over dollhouses. Thus, the demand for miniatures began to shoot up. Slowly dollhouse hobby trickled down to the man of street.
Ironically dollhouse dolls were never cosseted and pampered in contrast to other huggable dolls. But time over dollhouse became a paramount symbol of beauty, style and status brimming it’s owner with sense of pride.
